Disney+ and Hulu prices change – here’s how much your streaming plan will cost soon

The Walt Disney Company is launching an ad-supported version of its flagship streaming service Disney+ later this year, and plans to raise prices on several streaming services in conjunction with the move.

Executives at the media giant announced Wednesday that they plan to raise the price of ad-free Disney+ to $10.99 per month starting Dec. 8. An annual subscription to the service will cost $109.99, up from $79.99 previously.

The ad-free Disney+ currently costs $7.99 per month, but that will become the price for the ad-supported Disney+ service, which executives plan to launch on December 8th. Disney does not currently plan to offer an annual subscription plan for the cheaper Disney+ tier.

It’s also increasing the price of Hulu, which already has tiers with and without ads, and these changes will take effect before Disney+ price changes. Disney plans to charge $7.99 a month for the ad-supported Hulu tier and $14.99 a month for the ad-free premium tier, up from $6.99 a month for the ad-supported service or $12.99 a month for an ad-free viewing. These changes will take effect on October 10.

Company executives previously announced that the monthly price for ESPN+ will increase to $9.99 from $6.99, with this change taking effect on August 23. The ESPN-related streaming service only offers an ad-supported version.

Many consumers choose to bundle Disney streaming services, and prices for some of these shows will also change. Disney will start offering a bundle that combines ad-supported versions of Disney+ and Hulu for $9.99 a month, and the version that adds ESPN+ to that will cost $12.99 a month.

Existing subscribers will be eligible for a bundle that includes ad-free Disney+, ad-supported Hulu, and ESPN+ for a $14.99 monthly fee. The company will continue to offer an ad-free Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ ad-free bundle for $19.99 a month.

Hulu + Live TV prices will change as well. The company currently charges $69.99 per month for Hulu + Live TV with Disney+ and ESPN+, a bundle that includes ad-free Disney+ and ad-supported Hulu. Starting in December, this will be the new price for the tier that includes ad-supported Disney+ along with the rest of the collection.

Additionally, Disney plans to charge $82.99 per month for the premium Hulu + Live TV package that combines ad-free Disney+ and Hulu with ESPN+ and live shows. The current monthly price for this service is $75.99.

Disney will offer a monthly package of $74.99 to existing subscribers that combines ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu, along with ESPN+ and live programming.

The price increases come as Disney beat expectations with its latest streaming subscriber numbers, bringing the total number of streaming subscribers – including Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu – higher than that of rival Netflix Inc. NFLX,
+ 6.16%.
